If you follow me on FaceBook, you’ll know that I recently had a session done with just me and my kiddos. I try to get on the other side of the lens at least once a year – to remind myself what it’s like to be the “client”. What it’s like to stress and stress over the perfect outfits; to rack my brain on the newest thing I can use to bribe my kids with; to be a hectic mess the day of the session trying to get two kiddos ready plus ME. But, most importantly, to capture a time with my children that I will NEVER get back; that as time goes on, the memories will fade – no matter how hard I try to keep them safe; to spend an hour loving on and cuddling my kiddos, telling them just how much Mommy loves them.
I think this is something that EVERY mother needs to do. Stop worrying about those last 15lbs, or the fact that your roots haven’t been touched up in a few months. And start celebrating that fact that those last fifteen pounds are evidence of those sweet babies that you carried right below your heart for 9 months; that you’re in desperate need of an appointment at the salon but that you choose to spend that time playing in the backyard with your kiddos in the last few warm days of summer.
Tara and I worked long and hard to get this session together. It’s hard when you are a single mom to find time between all the ball games, family functions, and weekends apart. But everything finally came together for us this past weekend.
And it was an amazing session. I loved every single second of shooting it. And I love the images even more. Enjoy.
